Buy Wii Bundle 12/16/2008

Both the Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit are hard to find this season. Most stores are playing smart by forcing people too buy Wii in a bundle that is not less than $325. The reason that was given was pressure from the corporate office. Moreover the bundle consists of such accessories that are hardly used during games. Even WalMart has increased its sales and is making it available for online shoppers to buy Wii.

The world’s largest retailer WalMart says that it is making “tens of thousands” of Wii consoles available for $249. Even Amazon started a 15 Days 15 Deals where they have reduced the price of most of Wii games. This attracts the customers and increase their desire and potential to buy Wii video games. WalMart has Wii consoles in stock but has informed will not be sure for how long.

Online revenue of videogames during the holiday season has increased 9 percent from a year. Best Buy is already sold out online.  According to C-Net the Nintendo Wii has sold more than 13 million units making it the top selling home system in the country. The Nintendo Wii this time was like a major launch for all retailers. Black Friday is marked as the beginning of the holiday season where sales growth is expected to increase. This time people had just one question whether this time it will be their turn to buy Wii. Despite of economic fluctuation video game industry is facing uncertain sales. This is the first time that only Nintendo contributed maximum towards the sales of industry.

Further on, among the other WiiWare news related to Hudson is a press release in which the company has released some new screens of its game Pool Revolution: Cue Sports. This game will be called as Cue Warriors.

However, in last few days, there were rumors that Monster Hunter 3 (tri-) may go beyond the Wii and into the hands of PSP which had hosted the last title of Capcom.

After this news, Capcom updated its official site immediately where it has denied that they have not said anything of parting away from Wii as the platform for their game. This they confirmed as rumor and they further updated their site after a few hours wherein they have announced that the new edition of the Monster Hunter series: Monster Hunter 3 (tri-) is exclusively for Nintendo Wii.

Casual Gaming 12/07/2008

Nintendo's Wii console isn't a competitor. Why? They claim it's because the Wii does gaming differently and is more of a "casual" platform than a "true" gaming console. It didn't get any better Monday when Microsoft sent a press release detailing the Xbox 360's performance on Black Friday. According to the company, its console sales "were on pace to beat previous years, outselling the PlayStation 3 by a three-to-one ratio and estimating a 25 percent increase from Xbox 360 Black Friday sales figures from 2007."
"I think for us, we don't really see the Wii as a direct competitor, we actually very much complement the Wii experience," he gushed. "It's obviously clear that we're going head-to-head with the PS3 in this generation." Sony isn't innocent either, of course. Just a few weeks later, the company's CEO, Howard Stringer, told Bloomberg that he's played the Wii and he's not impressed. As Microsoft and Sony continue to focus on each other, it's the Wii that led the way on Black Friday and became the most desired product across retail locations worldwide. And we can't forget that that "niche gaming device" that isn't a "direct competitor" has almost outsold both the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 combined.Call me crazy, but when I go to Target or Gamestop and I see the Wii sitting next to the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 and I consider the fact that they all play games from the same developers (many of which are the same), have the same general price level, and provide the same basic experience, I'm inclined to believe they're competitors.

This week end you can sure to some video gaming shopping at Capcom’s stores. A special promotion was held by Capcom store during the Black Friday weekend and continued till Sunday.  The main attraction of the promotion was a 15% off on a purchase of two Wii games and a 25% off on a purchase of three games or more.

Above all, if an order is placed over $75, then it will be delivered for free at your doorstep by Capcom. There‘s also the facility of pre-orders which qualify for the Black Friday offer. The Neopets Puzzle Adventure qualifies for this pre-order. Although the game is available on Nintendo DS, the Wii version is yet to be released.

The games that Amazon offered during the Black Friday were a great deal. One didn’t have to face the face the masses of retail zombies to get their hands on. All you had to do was to see the update of the windows console and be ready to make a purchase. It was a list that was sent to Kotaku by Amazon in which it had promised about lots of cheap games to buy on Black Friday.

The most amazing offer is that of Animal Crossing/WiiSpeak Bundle for $40. However, if one could manage to take a $26 copy of De Blob or a $30 Wario Land: Shake It, then that can be counted as a victory. Amazon also had Wii systems and copies of Wii Fit when they updated their deals.

EA’s shadowy and innovative Blueprint division is sadly closing down as confirmed by a former employee that all the corporate employees who worked on the project have either quit, been laid off, or moved on to another projects. However, Variety has mentioned that a sequel to wonderful puzzle-action game, Boom Blox is being developed in the style of Blue Print.

It can be concluded that people working at Blue Print had a mission to change the development process so that individuals or small teams could work together from separate locations without the need to be employed by EA. A former Blue Print staff told Variety that everybody is integrated regardless of whether they are in the same physical location; it’s truly the spirit of what Blue Print was going to be. This really seems to be a good philosophy by the EA corporate.
