Electronics Arts Inc. (EA) is undergoing some tough times due to which the company has detailed plans of re-structuring itself. In vies to this, it has decided to release 10% of its work power by March 31, 2009, which comes to some 1,000 employees losing their jobs. This number also includes EA Black Box, who had developed Need for Speed, Skate, and its Wii port, Skate It.

In total EA would be closing nine studios and publishing locations leaving aside Black Box to be affected. The Black Box development teams and associated game franchises will move to the nearby EA Canada studio location in Burnaby, British Columbia. The company is implementing a plan to focus on hit games with higher margin and profits.
