It’s really difficult for a new and upcoming company to overshadow the already existing and successful firms. The same is the case with Forbis Technology and Nintendo. Forbis Technology introduced Weemote and trademarked in the year 2000. This was way long before the launch of Wii in the market. But Forbis have to suffer a great deal since Nintendo’s Wiimote has considerably taken on the Weemote and the company has to spend a lot of money and resources in order to save their trademark. However, the official name of Nintendo’s Wiimote is Wii Remote but the users have constantly known it by the unofficial name.

In this small business sob story, the sales of Weemote have considerably been affected. In order to protect the trademark, Forbis Technology has also mailed letters to retailers and resellers to stop referring the unofficial name of Nintendo’s Wiimote. For coming to an ideal conclusion, Nintendo should buy out the trademark from the small guy Forbis, and after that Forbis can rebrand their company. John Stephens, the owner of the firm of Weemote, have expressed a desire for the mega company to buy the trademark. Though, the chances of doing so are very minimal in the business world.
