Nintendo Wii is so popular right now that it's pushing Wii prices to sky high levels. The shortage of Wiis is also forcing retailers to get clever on the limited number of Wiis that they do have. Many retailers like Walmart are only selling Wiis in large bundles.
This is a great deal for big retailers as they make most money from games and accessories. However, Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo, is not liking this as he realizes this is not good for consumers. People are already complaining about the forced bundling and it is only bringing down Nintendo's reputation.
This is a question many people are asking right now. Thousands of people everyday walk into stores ready to buy Wii without a second thought. However, you just can't find it. Does this mean people will end up buying the Xbox 360 or Sony PS3? Or maybe people love the Wii so much that they will wait.
An analyst from a large investment firm decided that Nintendo is losing 1.3 billion dollars in lost sales because they are only cranking out half of what they're supposed to be cranking out. Nintendo is currently producing 1.8 million Wiis per month but they should be producing 3.6 million to meet demand. This is a staggering number and that is hard to verify. We'll have to see how Nintendo responds to this.
If you buy Wii, you will probably get a workout while you play. Everyone remembers the iconic images of older CEOs playing an actual video game in front of huge crowds live. This stuff just doesn't usually happen as most games are too boring to watch or are too difficult to learn quickly.
Nintendo has completely changed this as the Wii remote allows you to act as if you were actually doing the actual actions. For example, Wii Sports lets you swing a tennis raquet, but people tend to really swing like its real life. This leads to a workout or a broken television depending on how strong your strap was. Local news broadcasters started playing the Nintendo Wii in front of millions of viewers which caused a flurry of people to buy Wii.
The only problem now is that you can't buy Wii because it's out of stock. The problem is going to get worse because Nintendo just released Wii Fit in Japan which will soon arrive in the good ole USA late december. This is a platform where you now get a workout from your feet as well.
This will take the Nintendo Wii onto a whole new level. Most people who buy Wii are already casual gamers who like the fact that you have to move to play the Wii. Wii Fit will enter the fitness market which is a multi billion dollar market.
We expect it will be even harder to buy Wii for longer than we thought when the Wii Fit comes out. Just make sure you get some rest when your thighs are sore like you've been skiing all day.
As Nintendo is building an army of dedicated followers with their Nintendo Wii, people will start doing crazy things to their Nintendo Wii. There have already been a bunch of videos released of people modifying their Nintendo Wii, breaking their televisions, and walls. Some people have even made their own Wii Zappers out of lego parts.
Someone has also blinged out the Nintendo Wii by placing hundreds of pieces of bling on the Nintendo Wii. The cool part is that it is Zelda themed so its got that awesome triforce on it. This may just be the beginning of modifying the Nintendo Wii to personal tastes. I'm a little worried what I will be seeing in the future, but I'm sure some will be extraordinary. Where do these people get their time from?
People looking to buy Wii over the Thanksgiving break really received a wakeup call when they couldn't find one for sale. It also doesn't help that the media is advertising the Nintendo Wii for free by showing the huge Nintendo Wii shortage. The Nintendo Wii is getting more and more expensive by the day at places like Buy Wii and Amazon marketplace, and it's not getting better anytime soon.
All this really means is that if you're looking to buy Wii you need to do it soon. The prices on eBay have risen over $200 on the basic bundle over the past couple of weeks. We're talking a rise from $300 to $500+, which is insane. To put things in perspective, the people looking to buy Wii in the UK are paying much more ($650+ USD).
Nintendo also sold a record about of Nintendo Wiis over Thanksgiving which shows that they are trying hard to put more Nintendo Wiis on the shelves, but it isn't even helping. Prices should keep rising well into December.
The reason is that the Nintendo Wii appeals to a whole new customer group that gaming console never appealed to before. Even the elderly are hosting bowling tournaments in retirement centers. Keep this in mind when you are thinking about Christmas shopping as it may be better to buy Wii now and not worry about paying thousands for the Wii.
Nintendo has done it again by impressing everyone in the industry with the Thanksgiving sales numbers. Nintendo was able to sell over 350,000 just over the Thanksgiving holidays alone. These are incredible numbers.
Nintendo also sold an impressive 650K+ Nintendo DS systems. You have to keep in mind this is just 1 week, and Nintendo has the possiblilty of selling over 1 million Nintendo Wiis this month. These are incredible numbers.
You have to keep in mind that this is only November. Who knows what the possibilities are during December! That's if there any Nintendo Wiis left to sell.
Has it already been one year since the Nintendo Wii was released? Yeah, it has and it is still as popular as ever despite Americans already owning millions of Wiis. I see hundreds of people scrambling to find a Nintendo Wii which is causing some holidays woes. Nintendo is doing their best to supply demand, but let's forget about this for a second and celebrate Nintendo Wii's one year anniversary.
The Nintendo Wii first was announced as the Nintendo Revolution. This even didn't seem that eventful as most people saw the specifications and price and thought nothing much of it. Nintendo did try to say that were revolutionizing the controls but people were largely skeptical. Then Nintendo did the unexpected, they changed the name from Revolution to Wii. People were shocked around the world to say the least.
The Wii finally came out and everything turned around. People have now accepted the name and Nintendo Wii may be the best selling console ever with the pace it is going right now. If you've got a Wii or are still looking to buy Wii, lets celebrate the Nintendo Wii's success!
The Nintendo Wii came out with an outstanding lead of the Playstation 3 last year in Japan. Wii sold 110,415 units and PS3 came in at 47,183, which narrows the gap down to a 2 to 1 margin. This isn't nearly as bad as the 6 to 1 margin in June and 3 to 1 margin in September.
Sony has been making a ton of changes to the PS3 to make it more mainsteam. Mainly they have made it cheaper for people to afford. The Japanese might be getting a little bored with the Wii or maybe Sony's finally starting to get it. We'll opt with the latter.
We're incredibly excited about the Wii Zapper coming out because it'll make the first person shooting experience just so much better. The great thing about the Wii Zapper is that it comes with an amazing game called Link's Crossbow training. This is basically our favorite character from Zelda shooting them enemies with a crossbow. Pretty self explanatory huh?
Well, it'll be amazing to play this game because it'll showcase the amazing gun. The Zapper looks like a basic submachine gun. It's got multiple trigger points that are the same ones on the Wii remote and the nunchuk. It's just a plastic contraption that holds both controllers together in a gun like fashion.
The Zapper should work well with any Wii shooting game.
